COSCO, otherwise known as China Ocean Shipping Company has recently suffered a ransomware attack. The attack took place on July 24th 2018 and crippled the company’s network. It is unclear which ransomware they had been hit by, however the company’s American region IT infrastructure is still affected today July 26th 2018. The affected infrastructure includes email servers, telephone networks, and their US website. The company had released a press release stating, “due to local network breakdown within our America regions, local email and network telephone cannot work properly at the moment.” COSCO has shut down connections with other regions for safety precautions.
