Donald Dating, an app specifically for supporters of Donald Trump offers a safe place for people to converse. The app uses a tagline of “Make America Date Again” and had 1,600 people sign up before it even launched. When the app was launched last week, all of the users’ information was leaked even though the app claimed “All your personal information is kept private. We encourage safe online dating so please be sure not to share any private information on your profile before vetting anyone you may be interested in meeting in our community.” A French security researcher initially discovered it and was able to download a complete list of the daters as well as their full names, private messages, and the access token that could compromise the entire account. People who have tested the app said it was hard to operate and only allowed users to view ten accounts before requiring a $29.99 monthly fee. Donald Daters CEO Emily Moreno stated “We have taken swift and decisive action to remedy the mistake and make all possible efforts to prevent this from happening again. Out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily suspended the chat service on the app while we implement new security protocols.”
