As tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to grow so do fears of an Iranian cyber-attack. Sanctions are expected to be re-imposed this week which has many on edge. At this time, intelligence officials have not identified specific targets or threats but have noted a significant increase in chatter related to Iranian threat actor activity. It was recently discovered that the Iranian threat actor, LeafMiner, had infiltrated a number of systems throughout Middle Eastern countries, especially those which are allies with the United States. If Iran wanted to cripple U.S. operations in the region cyber-attacks on Bahrain could possibly be utilized as it is the location of the Headquarters for U.S. Naval forces in the region and is located so close to Iran and has already been targeted by Iranian threat actors in the past.
